The management of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, the parent body of Ilaji Soccer Academy, having initially secured partnership deal with SVIESQI, a first division club in Malta and recently Malaga FC, Spain decided to establish a football Club that will serve as a gateway to European Clubs for some of its footballing talents in the company’s soccer academy.
Having gathered the best grassroots football talents in Ibadan and some from Ilaji Soccer Academy, Ilaji Football Club was established in latter part of 2019. The Club participated in the maiden edition of Ilaji Football League, a football competition for various football clubs that domiciled in various major towns of Oyo State.
The competition saw an assemblage of football talents from different parts of Oyo state. It was a competition that was keenly contested for. Ilaji Football Club emerged winner of the league after securing the highest number of points and highest number of goals.
The team also recorded the meanest number of goals conceded. The advent of COVID-19 has altered the continuation of the league and other competitions lined up for Ilaji Football Club by its management.
